Coaching in Victoria 

Coach development and education is a priority area for Squash and Racquetball Victoria. We know that coaches are not only responsible for introducing and teaching people how to play this great sport but are also instrumental in nurturing a player’s lifelong love of the game.

Coaches are an important part of our workforce and we provide opportunities for coaches to progress their knowledge and skills by delivering accredited course and updating workshops, as well as providing access to a number of S&RV participation programs.

Squash Australia has adopted the World Squash Coaching (WSC) certification into its education framework. The WSC certification is part of the World Squash Federation Coach Education Programme, which provides a global standardised coaching structure. The goal is to expand the number of coaches who progress from a development level (Foundation) to an elite level (Level 3) and ensure all WSC Tutors are registered as WSC Certified at the appropriate level.

Quality coaches have a huge impact on our squash communities, they play an important role with players young and old, providing a positive influence on the life and values of those they connect with on and off the squash court. The role of the coach is fundamental to the success of all squash players at all levels.

Coaches at all levels play a crucial role in ensuring that squash is an enjoyable experience for everyone, as well as laying the foundation for the development of better players. Coaches provide athletes with the skills and knowledge needed to develop, improve, and help open the door to reach their full potential. Being a coach can provide a great fulfillment and challenge, while also taking you around the world as part of this global game.

It is important that all coaches continue their education to ensure the most appropriate and up-to-date knowledge and coaching techniques are being used.

Stages of Being a Coach

Squash Australia Coach Certification is provided through a partnership between Squash Australia and World Squash Coaching.

Register to create a Squash Australia and World Squash Coaching profile. The Learning Centre will navigate you through each course level.

For each Level, coaches will complete Squash Australia Integrity courses, provide a current Working with Children Check, agree to Code of Behaviour and online testing, attend a practical assessment course.

Coaching Accreditation and Insurance

There are four levels for certification, which once achieved, is validated for three years.

NB: All accreditation fees include the cost of insurance, but this is only valid when the coach is also affiliated with their State Squash Association.

All courses in the coaching framework are nationally accredited requiring coaches to update every 3 years.
